ABC’s of Salvation

Many discussions in Bethel Adult Sunday School have led to the following steps that a person takes toward salvation in Christ. This is not a list of hard rules. This is just a guide and meant to be something to recall when a non-believer asks about becoming a Christian.

A Admit, Accept
This step occurs when we admit that something is missing in our existence.
Accept Christ in your life so you may move forward.

B Believe
The vacuum in our existence is filled when we come to believe in Christ.

C Confess, Continue
Confess your sins.
Probably the most complicated step is to continue forward in our life as a Christian. There is a lot to learn. The bible is our guidebook. We can learn from other Christians. We learn to pray and seek out our God-given talents and how to apply them to fit into daily life.

Just a Simple Prayer
Just a simple prayer could lead someone into the the light: “Father God, I acknowledge that I am a sinner living in darkness. I accept that Jesus was born, lived, died and resurrected that I can experience Light. I open the door of my heart and ask Jesus Christ to come into my life, forgive my sins and give me eternal life. Thank You for hearing my prayer and entering my life as the Light.”

Present the Gospel clearly and simply.
Here are four points unsaved adults should know.
1 – All of us have sinned and need forgiveness if we are to have eternal life with God (Rom. 3:23).

2 – Jesus Christ, the Son of God, died on the Cross for our sins and rose again (1 Cor. 15:3-4). In His death, Christ died for our wrongdoings (1 Pet. 2:24), and in His resurrection He overcame the power of death (Heb. 2:14-15).

3 – We need to acknowledge our sin and believe in Christ (John 3:16; Acts 3:19; Rom. 10:9-10).

4 – You will be saved, forgiven, adopted into God’s family, and given the blessing of life with God forever (John 10:10; Eph. 1:3-7).

Pray for the Spirit’s leading in your life.
“God, I have not been following You in my life, and I know I need You to save me from myself. I ask for Your forgiveness for all the sins I have committed, those times I did things that were against what You wanted me to do. I realize You are a holy God, and it is only through the sacrifice of Your Son, Jesus, that I can be forgiven of my sins and find eternal life with You. I accept Jesus as my new Lord and Savior, replacing me as the head of my life. Give me Your Holy Spirit to renew and transform me into the person You meant me to be when You created me. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”
